Rick N Jill  > Mountain Biking > RCST Trails > Rugged Trail
2.4 mile - This really ends up a 2.8 mile loop as you have to do Stone Cabin Trail in or out depending on the direction you start off in. Relatively smooth trail over most of the length. What really makes this trail 'rugged' is the fact that it loses elevation in either directions to a low point about midway on the trail and then is either a slow steady climb out in the counter-clockwise direction or a series of steeper shorter climbs out in the clockwise direction. Either way it usually leaves you a bit spent by the end.

Rick N Jill > The rollers end with a nice benchcut decent to a 'sometimes wet' crossing and up a short steep, rocky up to what we call the rock bridge about midpoint on the trail.
Rick N Jill > Here looking up the short steep rocky section to the 'rock bridge'
Rick N Jill > Here the 'rock bridge'. Really nothing more than large rocks piled up to cover over some unridable tomestone rock formations at the bottom of the pile. If you know it's coming you can carry momentum right up and over with no problem. There is a small cheater line just to the left of the rock pile but in truth it is easier to ride up and over the 'rock bridge'.
Rick N Jill > Short climbing turn after the rock bridge marks another long sections of decending trail with a couple of switchbacks along the way.
Rick N Jill > Hard to see coming but this is the hard right hand turn of the first of the switchbacks
Rick N Jill > Rugged Trail photo
Rick N Jill > After a semi straight section you go into a hard left turn as you enter the second switchback
Rick N Jill > Rocks layed up along the outside of the switchback in hopes of eventually building up a berm in this hard left turn
Rick N Jill > After the switchbacks a long decent to a rocky section of trail
